Q: What does my child need to bring to camp?

Anything that comes to camp should have your child’s name written on it with permanent marker. This includes clothes, equipment, bags, and lunches. We will not be responsible for and highly suggest that campers NOT bring the following to camp: ipods, gameboys, cell phones, etc. that may be lost or damaged during camp. Anything left unclaimed by the last day of camp will be discarded or donated.

All campers must wear sneakers or closed-toe sandals (i.e. Crocs) to camp, even if they are not signed up for a sports activity. We would like to prevent any toe or foot injuries on the playground and in the gymnasiums during recess and lunch breaks. All campers should bring a filled water bottle, especially on warm days. Water coolers are always available to refill water bottles throughout the day. Please apply sunscreen and bug spray before you arrive.

Check the list of programs below for additional items you may need:

  • Mini-Gators (Pre-K): Bring a t-shirt/smock for art projects and a mat/large beach towel for rest time (if staying full day). On water play days, wear your bathing suit and bring a change of clothes, socks, underwear, and towel.
  • Mighty Gators (K & 1st Grade): Bring a t-shirt/smock for art projects. On water play days, wear your bathing suit and bring a change of clothes, socks, underwear, and towel.
  • On Campus: Wear close-toed shoes and bring a lunch.  Each class will let you know if there are additional needs.
  • Sports Academy: Wear sneakers, bring a bathing suit and towel, filled water bottle, hat.
  • All Off-Campus Programs: An activity schedule/list of items will be mailed under separate cover. On-campus lunch is N/A. Wear snakers, sunscreen, and bring a non-perishable lunch.
  • Sports Camps: A list of items and equipment will be sent before camp starts.

Q: Will my 2nd- 8th grade child be swimming?

If your child is enrolled in Sports Academy or a Swimming class, or after-care please send him/her with a swimsuit, towel, and pool shoes (i.e. Crocs) each day. (Girls—please wear a one piece or a tankini suit that covers most of your torso). All campers must pass a swim proficiency test in order to swim in the deeper parts of the pool without a vest. Campers who forget their swimsuits will not be allowed to swim that day. No extra swimsuits are available.

Q: Will my child’s lunch be refrigerated? What if we decide to purchase lunch halfway through camp?

All campers who have not signed up to purchase lunch through Stone Ridge must bring a non-perishable lunch (including a drink). We are not able to refrigerate lunches. Please write your child’s name on their lunch box. School lunches are only available on a weekly basis – no drop-ins. If you wish to sign-up for the lunch program after camp has started, you must let us know by Wednesday of the week before you wish to start.

Q: What should we expect the first day of camp?

On the first day of each camp session, we strive to make all campers feel welcome and comfortable.  We suggest that campers in grades 2-8 keep their schedules in their pockets for the first few days (or tape it to the outside of their backpacks).  Parents do not need to walk their child in unless they wish to do so.  We will meet and greet each camper as they arrive in the carpool line in front of they gym.  Our staff will escort campers and show them where to put their lunches and gear.  If they have forgotten their schedules, they can get one at that time.  If you wish to walk your child in on the first day, please feel free to park in the parking lot next to the gymnasium.  We encourage you to arrive early on the first day (anytime between 8:30-9:00 am).  This will give our staff plenty of time to properly welcome your child(ren)!

Q: My child is either a Mini or Mighty Gator. How can I be assured that he or she will not be lost among the “big- kid” campers at the beginning of each day?

Mini Gators are taken from their cars each morning and escorted into their classroom where they can play under the supervision of their teachers until the camp day begins. The first day only, Mighty Gators will be taken directly to their classrooms. After the first day, Mighty Gators are escorted to their class flag on the playground where they leave their backpacks until it is time to line up. They are greeted and supervised by their counselors and are allowed to play with their friends until it is time to line up and walk to their classrooms.
